nathan grew up in the north-west of england, studied fine art at liverpool john moores university and currently works for national museums liverpool. he has exhibited in a number of group and solo exhibitions in liverpool and around the uk, as well as having two drawings selected for the 2004 sefton open. his work relates to the presence of man within an urban environment, producing associations without being direct in representational or figurative terms. he uses a variety of materials, such as charcoal, graphite, ink, acrylic and aerosol paint. and is influenced by artists such as kline, de kooning, blake, hockney as well as various contemporary urban and 1960's retro imagery.

dave graduated from liverpool john moores art school in 1996 and has shown work in several shows around the city since then. his mainly figurative work is influenced by cezanne, matisse and hockney and is currently working on pushing the boundaries of his painting, investigating how the relationships between people or their environments can be explored visually. he describes his working method as interrogating nature - battling with the images he sees and recording these encounters in the best way he can. daves colourful and expressive work starts at just 30 pounds.

dot-art is delighted to announce the launch of series of box canvas prints by 8 of our artists. the works were unveiled at a preview event last night at the liverpool philharmonic hall and will be on display at the venue until Tueday 13th june. each print is produced in a limited edition of 500, is giclee printed using UV stable and waterproof pigmented inks on 350gsm a-grade artists canvas. each print is ready to hang, stretched around a 2 inch wooden box frame and includes a certificate signed and numbered by the artist. the prints are available through the dot-art website or by calling 0845 0176660.

for those of you who missed it in the daily post a couple of weeks ago, dot-art were featured as a success story for the 08 business connect club which aims to allow businesses to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the capital of culture, as our first artists sponsorship deal with alexander james executive search came about through contacts made using the network. artist garry lawlan was chosen by the firm, who are now renting his fantastic work the liver bird, and have commissioned him to produce an accompanying piece.

gillian durnan studied art and design in manchester and liverpool, graduating in 2004 with a first class honours degree in fine art with music. using photography, drawing and painting techniques, mainly sourced from nature and the human figure, images are further manipulated with digital software. the artist uses brightly saturated colours and bold imagery for printing directly onto acrylic sheets. this technique involves printing images at high resolution onto acrylic, using state of the art print machines. pieces are mounted away from the wall with architectural fixings, allowing illumination from natural light sources. mounted in this way, images convey a high-tech, contemporary feel.

dot-art held a launch party last night to celebrate the opening of their new gallery and were overwhelmed by the turnout, as over 250 people came along to see work by nearly 100 local artists. The dot-art gallery is now open from 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday and by appointment on Saturday.

The dot-art gallery will be open this Saturday, 8th December from 12pm-4pm. We will also be staying open for late night Christmas Shopping on Thursday 13th and Thursday 20th December until 8pm- with carols, wine and mince pies guaranteed to get you into the Christmas spirit!
