As a self-taught artist starting at a young age, I have created artwork ranging from styles such as portraiture, traditional landscapes, impressionism and abstract art using a whole spectrum of mediums. During my period of perfecting my painting my discovery for another art form rose. House music and DJing became a passion which grew into a 20 year experience of playing in underground clubs; I entertained a spectrum of audiences at illegal raves in a field to grimy backstreet sweat-houses and the glamorous superclubs of Ibiza.
Music has played a major part in my creativeness and my artwork. The music sets the mood with the melody and bass lines putting me into a state of trance, then producing a remix of precise or random brushstrokes emerging from within. I enjoy nothing more than stepping into the studio with a blank canvas for a release of creative energy fuelled by paints, brushes, atmosphere and good house music.
The common elements of my work are a rich and vibrant pallet of acrylic paints, multi-faceted layering and statement texturing. I like to add depth, energy and a unique feel to all of my work; to finish I apply high gloss resin or varnish which compliments the work. Then there is the challenge of my feelings so that each piece reflects a particular mood or a moment in time. My aim is to produce something original by working on the abstract elements of the design or subject, that will stimulate interest, discussion and emotion. The significance of my design has been developed from my mind and turned into an expression of culture for our time.
