Peter is a well established Liverpool artist who has exhibited extensively, both nationally and internationally (including New York, Barcelona, Sweden, and the 2007 Florence biennale)and been awarded many awards throughout Europe and the USA including the Vincent Van Gogh award, The Albert Einstein International Academy foundation; honouree in recognition for outstanding achievements and the international German art prize.
"This work has developed from researches into cells, water and organic forms in the 1970s, fractal geometry and chaos theory in the 1980s and 1990s. It also tries to convey my experiences during meditation and the states of consciousness that accompany it. In 1987 I discovered a technique Ive called double edging which more effectively expresses these states. One of my other aims is to reconnect with the underlying reality beneath the surface of things perceived in the objective world and to signal a qualitative change to re-establish our spiritual roots again."
"I work predominantly with oil on canvas, using the double edging technique. The combination of classical procedures such as glazing, washing etc, with modern, such as alla prima and the double edging itself; form a method of working which for me creates a fusion that captures the best of each. Instead of being seen as a separation of styles, this creates something new and unexpected."
