I am currently exploring and developing ideas from Landscapes that show evidence of past human occupation, such as in areas of the UK and further a field in the Northern and Central Lands of Australia, where the Indigenous peoples have used their Art in order to reveal their understanding of the land. I am intrigued by the ways in which civilizations have honoured the spirit of the environments within which they live, where surfaces have undergone physical change and by the ways in which forms have been built in order to praise the beliefs and love of humanity and of the Cosmos.

I produce work utilising a broad range of material processes and procedures, using a monochrome pallet; colour is a distraction. The size of my work is critical, a lot is large, big enough to enable me to become physically and actively involved in the making of "marks", attempting to expressively reflect something about the nature and spirit of the place that is inspiring me.

I have much respect for the work of John Virtue, Eduardo Chillada and the Papanya Tula group of Aboriginal Artists of the Western Desert of Australia whose elemental modes of expression, use of materials, scale of work and use of pattern and space have influenced the development of my work.

My current work is as much to do with the "process of making" as representations of places or spaces.
