I am a graphic designer and editor who has been in the publishing industry since 1986 after being made redundant from my job as a panel-beater. Over the years have gained experience of working with children's books, annual reports, advertising literature, and magazines, for clients including: Penguin Books, Harper Collins, McDonalds, Direct Line, Vauxhall Motors, Logica, Direct Line and The Health and Safety Executive
In my work I get to use a lot of different imagery, including photography, so it is something I have always been interested in. A trip to New York in 2004, and the work I produced from that, attracted a high level of interest from family and friends and encouraged me to turn photography from a hobby, into a commercial venture. Although my work starts with a photograph, I like to add to it. I manipulate the images on-screen, applying filters and enhanements until I achieve a more moody, almost sketched appearance which works particularly well with the subjects I choose. I am currently building up a library of manipulated images of Liverpool; it is an ever-changing city and there is always plenty to point a lens at. Other iconic World city images feature highly in my work, driven largely by a fascination with architectural styles.
